The new single follows the momentum generated by ‘Upside Down’, which premiered on BBC Radio 2 and quickly secured a place on the station’s playlist. The track reignited enthusiasm among Imbruglia’s longtime fans while introducing a new audience to the singer-songwriter’s evolving sound, building anticipation for her first album campaign in years.

Speaking about the inspiration behind ‘Algorithm’, Natalie described the overwhelming nature of online life and the influence of technology on modern consciousness.
“It’s like you’ve opened one trapdoor and you’re falling endlessly through one after another,” she said. “I’m a deeply spiritual person, so the title comes from a place of real concern for the world we’re living in. We’re in a dark place and psychological warfare is being waged upon us. We need to talk about that and where our thoughts are going. This is about sparking that conversation.”
The single suggests that ‘Algorithm’ the LP will be more than a collection of polished pop songs. Instead, it points toward an album willing to grapple with the psychological impact of life in the digital age while pushing Imbruglia’s sound into darker, more experimental territory.
