Jessie J has announced she’s going to keep creating music while she deals with her health issues.
Taking to Instagram recently, the pop star revealed it’s now been seven weeks since she had breast cancer surgery and she’s due for another operation later in the year – but that won’t be stopping her from her creative pursuits. In fact, she has a single coming out August 29th!
“I can rest, parent AND release new music,” she begins her message.
“I didn’t leave a major label after 18 years to be scared to rewrite the rules to fit around my life/health. I just have to make it realistic on what I can deliver in all roles in my life.”
Jessie, who told her fans in June this year that she’d been diagnosed with early stage breast cancer, says she’s now adapting to and “flowing” with the changes in her life.
“I’m still in the thick of recovery and my body is still finding its way. But I LOVE music and I LOVE my life and I want to LIVE in the moment. Instead of stopping and disappearing and waiting for the timing to be perfect to release music again, I am choosing to carry on.”

She ends her message, “Life is layered and has highs and lows and we just have to keep living through all of it, the best we can. So here I am. LIVING.”
Jessie went public with her diagnosis in the hope of helping others dealing with cancer too: “Cancer sucks in any form… It breaks my heart that so many people are going through so much, similar and worse – that’s the bit that kills me.”
