Singer Caleb Shomo has come out as “proudly gay” in an emotional statement shared with fans.
The frontman for US rock band Beartooth, 33, opened up about his sexuality on social media after feeling “compelled to set the record straight”.
The singer’s wife of nearly 14 years, Fleur Shomo, has publicly confirmed her support during this “very disorientating and hurtful time”.
“There’s been a lot of speculation surrounding my personal life as of late,” the rockstar began to his 217,000 followers.
“I am a proudly gay man.”
Shomo revealed it’s something he’s been “unpacking and reckoning with” in his life for quite some time now.
In the statement, he admitted: “I spent a decade burying feelings with alcohol”.

Until he decided to quit and face “why I felt this way for so long”.
“It’s been a direct path to me reconciling with my sexuality in hopes that it will eventually lead me to experiencing self love,” Shomo went on.
The artist hopes to “face every part” of himself through his new music and offered words of encouragement towards anyone who might be feeling a similar way.
“Do the hard work instead of burying it down as deep as you physically can thinking it will change like I did,” he said.
Shomo’s wife, Fleur, took to her own social media to share a statement revealing the past few months have been challenging for them both.
She posted an old video of the couple dancing in their living room which opened to a five slide statement publicly offering her support.
“I will always want to love, protect and support Caleb,” she penned.
“I have cared more about his well being over the years than anything else in the world.”
Shomo’s wife opened up about “confusion and pain” he went through while not knowing how to help.
And while she wanted nothing more than for Shomo to “be OK”, she admitted felt “anger” as the life she knew became “completely demolished”.
“To support him while losing everything has been incredibly hard to figure out,” she penned.
“My mental health has suffered,” she said, but she will never question their history and nearly 14 years of marriage.
”Our story was a good one. And now it’s done,” she concluded before thanking fans for their support.
