The online publication asked Blunt, 43, if she had any advice for women “who are hating their jobs right now”, in reference to one of her character’s most famous quotes from the original movie.

”Quit! … No,” the actress quipped as co-star Stanley Tucci scoffed.

Blunt then laughed, adding: “I think just find something you deeply want to do, even if you’re earning no money, as long as you love it, you’ll be happy.”

Fans called out Blunt for her “entitled” advice, noting it’s easy for a “millionaire” to settle for a less paying job. The actress is worth an estimated $US80 million ($111 million).

“That can only be said by an (over)privileged person,” said one fans in the YouTube comments.

“Not everyone’s an overpaid Hollywood actor, some people can’t choose a job just because.”

“I love when millionaires tell me to quit my job. 😫,” wrote another.

The star was labelled “out of touch” on Instagram, with one follower responding: “Me to myself: don’t take the advice to quit in this economy.”

Other fans however, defended Blunt, with one arguing it was “an awkward thing to ask offhand”.

“She joked and said ‘quit!'” that same fan pointed out.

“She knows that you can’t just quit the job because you don’t like it.

“I think her point was more about how yes, you have to work the crap job, but you can (especially if you’re young) still be working towards a job that you enjoy. She’s an actor, not a philosopher.”

A second fan rushed to Blunt’s defence, saying, “You quit only if you find something better” because if you stay too long in a job you hate you’ll burn out.

A third fan knew exactly what the star meant.

”Me who’s not a millionaire and has quit every job she’s ever hated (getting a new job under there noses first tho!)Trust me sometimes you absolutely have to,” they commented.

Blunt returns to screens for the highly-anticipated sequel The Devil Wears Prada 2 alongside Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep and Stanley Tucci.

The career question came off the back of her viral meme from the original movie, a still of her character Emily sarcastically repeating the line “I love my job”.

Blunt laughed as she looked back on the scene, revealing she improvised the now-famous line.
