When you become a mum, a lot of things start to make sense – for Tara Pavlovic it was understanding there was a reason her mum used to act so “insane”.
This weekend, the former Bachelor star and mother of two, 36, is marking Mother’s Day for the first time since her recent marriage breakdown.
“I haven’t actually planned anything,” she told nine.com.au.
She announced the news publicly in April via a statement on Instagram, and is hoping she’ll be able to see the kids, aged four and three, at some point on Sunday.
“It’s not actually my time with them, but I’m sure I’ll see them on Mother’s Day and have a night with them,” Pavlovic said.
“I could sit here and cry, but I won’t.
“I’ve planned to go out and watch a band the night before with some other mums that don’t have their kids.”

Since becoming a mum, Pavlovic – who is an ambassador for Moonpig this Mother’s Day – realised a lot of things her mum did when she was growing up actually make sense now.
“I used to think [Mum] was just a psycho, pretty much, when I was growing up” she explained.
“I’m like, ‘Why is she so insane? Why is she so angry about my messy room? Why is she so angry about us not eating our lunch? Why is she so angry about the food going to waste? Why is she so angry about putting my clothes away? So what if they fell on the floor after she folded them, who cares?'”
Now, years later, she admits it all makes a lot of sense.
“I get why you were a bit crazy,” she said.
Pavlovic jokes she now understands why her mum would “just lose the plot” because she’s been there, and she’s sorry she didn’t get it earlier.
While plenty of adults have confessed to stealing booze from their parents when they were younger, she joked she doesn’t have to.
“I got caught out,” she laughed.
“She knew I snuck out this whole time, she knew I was sneaking the Tia Maria from the alcohol cabinet.”
