Spotify Reserved: Spotify is rolling out a new feature to help fans secure tickets, but it’s not yet coming to Australia

Spotify has announced a major new feature overnight, and there’s good and bad news.

The good news is a feature fans have been requesting for years is finally set to hit the platform.

The bad news is it’s not coming to Australia. At least not yet, anyway.

Spotify Reserved has been announced by the streaming giant after years of hardcore music lovers begging for a way for an artist’s true fans to secure concert tickets.

Basically, the feature will allow an artist’s top listeners to secure two tickets to a gig before the tickets even go on pre-sale.

As it seems to be getting harder and harder to snag concert tickets, this feature is the first step in making sure an artist’s most dedicated fans are at the front of the line.

Spotify will use metrics such as streams, shares and other activity to identify those fans.

Those eligible will receive an email or in-app notification inviting them to purchase tickets during a dedicated window for superfans.

Invites will be based on a tour’s location, so if a show is not coming to your area, you may miss out.

However, once you do get an invite, you can purchase up to two tickets to any location on the tour, with seating options varying by show.

The feature is set to roll out across newly announced tours over the next few months, with Spotify anticipating more artists will quickly jump on board.

Sadly for us Aussies, the feature is currently only available in the US, but don’t lose hope just yet.

Spotify has assured users Spotify Reserved will soon be rolled out across several more markets.

Although there has been no specific mention as to whether or not Australia will be one of them, we can only hope.
