Rose Hill Romance Novels Ordered to Series by Amazon

Prime Video is headed to Rose Hill, Canada.

Amazon announced ahead of its upfront presentation on Monday that its streamer has ordered an adaptation of Elsie Silver’s small-town Rose Hill romance books to series. Death and Other Details co-creator and co-showrunner Heidi Cole McAdams is set to serve as writer, showrunner and executive producer of the streamer’s Rose Hill.

Silver’s Rose Hill books, including the titles Wild Love, Wild Eyes, Wild Side and Wild Card, follows the love lives of various residents — from a pilot to a country singer — of a Canadian mountain town. Prime Video’s Rose Hill, from Amazon MGM Studios and production company Temple Hill, will follow a pair of those characters, the best friends West Belmont and Ford Grant, through their romantic trials and tribulations. Record label owner and billionaire Grant has always longed for Belmont’s sister, Rosie, while the arrival of country-pop singer Skylar Stone throws a wrench into rancher Belmont’s life.

“Working with this team on the Rose Hill adaptation has been such a treat,” Silver said in a statement. “To see everyone’s hard work and creativity come to life on screen will be a dream come true.”

500 Days of Summer and Snow White filmmaker Marc Webb will direct the series pilot and second episode, as well as executive produce. Silver will executive produce alongside Wyck Godfrey, Marty Bowen and James Seidman for Temple Hill and Temple Hill’s Annika Patton will serve as co-executive producer.

Rose Hill is exactly the kind of sweeping, emotional romance we love and need — grounded in character, driven by compelling relationships, and set in a world that feels both aspirational and authentic,” Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen said in a statement. “With Heidi and Marc, we have an incredible team bringing Elsie Silver’s fantastic books to life in a cinematic, exciting way.”

With the series, Amazon is continuing to build up its lineup of romance series, which already includes The Summer I Turned Pretty, Off Campus and Maxton Hall — The World Between Us.

“Elsie Silver’s Rose Hill novels have resonated with millions of readers by blending sweeping romance with grounded, emotionally complex relationships,” Amazon MGM Studios head of global television Peter Friedlander said in a statement. “It’s a world where love, loyalty and identity collide in ways that feel both intimate and expansive. With Heidi Cole McAdams, Marc Webb, and our partners at Temple Hill, we’re excited to translate that richness to the screen for Prime Video audiences globally.”
