While Kylie Jenner was making a splash with one of the Met Gala’s most talked-about looks, boyfriend Timothée Chalamet skipped the event completely.
Although many hoped to see them make their Met Gala couple debut at this year’s event, it wasn’t to be with Jenner turning heads on her own in a dramatic gown with skin-tight bodice and bleached brows.
Meanwhile, Chalamet was sitting courtside at nearby Madison Square Garden supporting the New York Knicks.
Was it worth ditching the most glamorous night of the year? He’d probably think so, with the Knicks beating the Philadelphia 76ers 137-98 in a play-off game.
Fans had hoped to see the pair walk the carpet together, but instead Chalamet kept it casual (and we’re sure a lot more comfy) courtside, wearing a simple jeans and striped shirt combo.
Perhaps the result will have him hyped to join Jenner at an afterparty – but we’ll have to wait and see.
On the Upper East Side, Jenner was the pinnacle of fashion in a Schiaparelli gown that gave the illusion of it slipping off.

It’s the second year in a row that Chalamet has skipped the Met Gala because of basketball.
He also left Jenner to attend alone last year, instead staying home to watch the Knicks defeat the Boston Celtics at home with friends.
When asked about last year’s decision on 7PM in Brooklyn with Carmelo Anthony, Chalamet joked that he “had to be locked in, man.”
So, we’re sure this will cause banter between him and fellow Knicks superfan Ben Stiller, who made the opposite decision and skipped the game to attend the gala with wife Christine Taylor.
Even so, Stiller and Taylor let their fandom be known with a nod to the team colours blue and orange in their outfits.
Stiller reportedly joked on the carpet that he’d be keeping up with the game on his phone while inside the museum.
While she didn’t have her boyfriend in tow, Jenner wasn’t without support.
Sisters Kendall Jenner and Kim Kardashian, as well as mother Kris Jenner, were also in attendance, with the family all walking to red carpet separately.
Kylie regularly supported Chalamet on red carpets throughout awards season, where he was heavily nominated for Marty Supreme.
The couple were last seen together at a previous Knicks game on April 28.
