Marisa Tomei, Kelly Macdonald, David Harewood Set for ‘War’ Season 2


Marisa Tomei, Kelly Macdonald and David Harewood are set to star in the second season of upcoming HBO/Sky legal drama “War.”

Season 1, which features Dominic West and Sienna Miller as a high net worth divorcing couple, wrapped in February and is set to launch later this year. Season 2, which will focus on an explosive defamation case, is about to go into production.

Joining Tomei, Macdonald and Harewood are Claire Skinner, Omari Douglas, Kadiff Kirwan, Douglas Booth, Charles Edwards, Luca Pasqualino, Rebecca Front, Alexandra Maria Lara, Linus Roache, Violet Braeckman, Sasha Behar, Sid Phoenix, Cornelius Booth and Megan Channell.

The show, created by “Hijack” and “Lupin” co-creator George Kay, centers on two warring law firms in London as they go head to head on a series of headline-grabbing cases.

Previously announced series regulars are Phoebe Fox and James McArdle as partners in life and business at law firm Taylor & Byrne while Nina Sosanya and Pip Torrens play their rivals at Cathcarts.

Archie Renaux joins as ambitious lawyer Jonathan “Johnny” Warren. Other cast include Emma Laird, Nick Mohammed, Akiya Henry, Honor Swinton Byrne, Miles Jupp, Kartanya Maynard, Alexandra Mardell, and Steve Furst.

Kay is lead writer with Kelly Jones, Jess Brittain, Catherine Shepherd, Yemi Oyefuwa and Krissie Ducker. Ben Taylor (“Sex Education”) directs. Executive producers Willow and Imogen O’Sullivan for New Pictures, Ben Taylor, Susan Breen and Megan Spanjian for Sky. Series producer is Matt Carver.

It’s co-produced by New Pictures, an All3Media company, and Observatory Pictures in association with Sky and HBO.
