A Casa Amor bombshell has been removed from the U.K. version of Love Island following reports that he was connected to a stabbing in London.
Gabriel Garland, 24, briefly appeared in Sunday night’s episode of season 13 before he was pulled from the popular ITV2 dating reality series. He entered the villa alongside five other Casa Amor men. “Gabriel has now left the villa and will not be returning,” an ITV spokesperson told The Guardian in a statement on Monday.
The Hollywood Reporter has also reached out to ITV for comment.
Though ITV didn’t share a reason for his departure, The Guardian reported that producers removed Garland after learning that he was named in court documents connected to a 2019 stabbing that happened in south-east London on New Year’s Eve. Vitor Mazzer was convicted after being found guilty of two counts of grievous bodily harm with intent.
Garland, who reportedly had an altercation with the people stabbed by Mazzer, was not convicted of any offense, the outlet reported.
As for Love Island USA, two castmembers have been removed from season eight, which is currently airing. Casa Amor bombshell Alannah Keyser was removed from the Peacock series when a video resurfaced of her using the N-word, and Vasana Montgomery was removed ahead of the June 2 premiere when social media posts emerged of her using the N-word.
Since their departure, Keyser and Montgomery have both apologized. “I’m sorry to whoever has seen that video and has been offended by it; that was never my intention. The video is from six years ago, and that word is just not in my vocabulary anymore,” Keyser said in a TikTok video.
Montgomery also wrote on her Instagram Story, “I want to address a couple videos from my teen years that have recently resurfaced. In those videos, I used a racial slur. There is no excuse for it, and I am deeply sorry. I am embarrassed and disappointed by my words. I take full responsibility for what I said and understand why it has hurt and upset people.”
