Adam Hyde, aka Keli Holiday, has spoken out after he was detained and denied re-entry into the United States saying he was “gutted” over the ordeal.
In an interview on Triple M’s Mick in the Morning, the Aussie musician, 35, revealed a final twist in the saga – he’d been set to visit Andy Lee’s New York pub Old Mates before he was barred from entry.
“I was going to do a surprise set there and have a bunch of fun with a bunch of people,” Hyde told host Mick Molloy.

“I’m not at liberty to discuss such matters fully at this time.”
Hyde, an award-winning artist, was set to perform across four dates on his first-ever North American tour. Following his third show in Toronto on May 6, the Dancing2 singer was unexpectedly detained at the US-Canadian border mid-tour and was forced to cancel his final show.
While he remained tight-lipped on the exact events surrounding his denied entry, he insisted he still “love[s] the United States”.

“I’m gutted I couldn’t do the New York City show, and I hope to get back there soon because there is a lot of people wanting a Keli Holiday show, but I want to bring it to them, so we’ll see…”
Hyde’s conversation with Molloy took an unexpected turn when the radio host suggested him as a potential future Australian Eurovision, representative following Delta Goodrem’s incredible performance.Dancing2 singer’s conversation with Molloy took an unexpected turn when the radio host suggested him as a potential future Australian Eurovision representative following Delta Goodrem’s incredible performance.
“I had a fever dream the other day … you would win us Eurovision,” Molloy said.
It seems the vocalist is keen on the idea, replying: “I would give it a crack! We could do it.”
At the time he was denied entry, the Peking Duk musician – who performs solo under the moniker Keli Holiday – addressed disappointed fans on Instagram.
”Hello stunnas, unfortunately I’m not going to make it to tonight’s show at Baby’s All Right in NYC,” he began in statement posted to his Stories.
“I have spent all day detained at the Canadian border and denied entry back into the US despite having the proper visa documentation in place. I’m still trying to get clarity on the situation myself,” he explained.
“I’m honestly gutted… I hate letting people down.”
Online speculation suggested Hyde’s partner Abbie Chatfield‘s previous comments on President Donald Trump could be the reason for him being denied entry but a statement from US Customs and Border Protection revealed that wasn’t necessarily the case.
When contacted by nine.com.au, US Customs and Border Protection confirmed Hyde was denied entry over to national security concerns.
”Adam Hyde was not deported. He was denied entry at Toronto Pearson International airport on May 7, 2026, due to national security concerns,” they said.
“The Trump administration is enforcing immigration laws – something the Biden administration failed to do.
“All persons arriving at a port of entry to the United States are subject to inspection on a case-by-case basis.”
