Joe Jonas had ‘bad’ audition for The Morning Show

Joe Jonas has recalled his “bad” audition for The Morning Show.

Joe Jonas had a terrible audition for The Morning Show

The 36-year-old singer was left cursing his determination not to be late because showing up early to try-out for the role – which brother Nick Jonas revealed was to play a “love interest for Jennifer Aniston – on the Apple TV newsroom drama series proved to be a “ruiner” for him.

Speaking on the Hey Jonas! podcast, Joe said: “I’ll tell you a story about being early that was a ruiner for me. It was an audition. It was The Morning Show. It was my callback, and it was to play like a young anchor that they have in the show.

“Long story short, I show up early. They’re auditioning a lot of very handsome young gentlemen, and they were like, ‘Oh, we have a private room for you.’

“So I was like, ‘Lovely.’ So they put me in this private room, and then this is the saddest room you can imagine.

“It was just these little blinds, all the lights were off, and they didn’t work, and I could hear clear as day all the guys auditioning. They’re like, ‘We just have two guys before you,’ and these guys were crushing it.”

The Sucker singer had no choice but to listen in because he “didn’t bring headphones, so [was] just literally sitting in silence, reading the lines” before it was his turn.

He was then called into the room, and his audition was “so bad”.

He admitted: “I just crash and burn. It was so bad.

“I did the terrible thing. They’re like, ‘Oh, you can use the — you can read off paper for this, if you want.’ I’m like, ‘I got it.’ I’m like, ‘I’m good.’ And it was literally like, I don’t even know what I’m auditioning for.”

As soon as he stepped into the room, all the lines Joe had learned were “just gone”.

He lamented: “It was such a bad audition.”

Although Joe didn’t detail which role he was up for, after Nick said it was a new romantic partner for Jennifer’s character Alex Levy, Kevin Jonas said: “I think it was the kind of, like, very handsome, talented-looking male, you know, like very right-wingy, podcast host guy.”

Season four of The Morning Show saw Alex embark on an unexpected romance with conservative podcaster Bro Hartman, who was played by Boyd Holbrook.
