EXCLUSIVE: James Badge Dale (World War Z), Elena Anaya (Wonder Woman) and Laurence Fishburne (The Matrix) have been set to star in writer-director Mel Rodriguez III’s (In Stereo) crime thriller Interference.
Set in Spain, Interference “follows a successful American expat whose carefully constructed life with his wife and son begins to unravel after he is arrested for crimes he insists he did not commit, exposing a dangerous past and a truth far more personal than anyone around him understands.”
Rodriguez III also produces alongside Juan Aura for Teté Studios. Spencer Garrett (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood) will co-star and serves as an executive producer along with Paul Miloknay (Habit).
Pia Patatian’s production and sales company Noora Films is handling international rights and will introduce buyers to the crime thriller at this week’s Cannes market. CAA Media Finance is representing the U.S. rights.
Director of photography is Bryan Koss (Inside Man) and casting director is Juan Pablo Rincon (Pluribus). A start date has yet to be set with additional casting in process.
“What drew us in immediately was the precision of the writing and the clarity of Mel’s vision as a filmmaker,” stated Teté Studios producer Juan Aura. “Interference is layered and controlled, with a very clear sense of tone and escalation that carries the audience all the way through. It operates as a tightly constructed psychological thriller, with characters that feel grounded and complex. That combination is rare and it’s what allowed us to attract this level of cast and build something that we believe can travel internationally.”
“Mel Rodriguez has assembled a sterling cast of globally renowned actors to bring his taut action thriller to life on the big screen,” commented Noora Films’ Pia Patatian. “We know that our international partners will be eager to get on board this emotional rollercoaster ride.”
Fishburne is represented by CAA; Dale is represented by CAA, MJ Management and Michael Auerbach; Anaya is represented by Borja de la Vega at Kuranda; Garrett is represented by Paradigm; Rodriguez III is represented by Paul Miloknay.
