Indoor Football League Week 6 viewer’s guide


Week 6 of the IFL features a new No. 1 team, a rematch from an exciting Week 4 game and more.

IFL Players of the Week

New Mexico Chupacabras quarterback Ja’rome Johnson was named Offensive Player of the Week after throwing for 199 yards, rushing for 50 yards and delivering a five-touchdown performance against the Naz Wranglers, which helped the team secure its first win of the season. Johnson and the Chupacabras will look to continue their momentum against the Tucson Sugar Skulls on Sunday.

Fishers Freight linebacker Cornelius Montgomery won Defensive Player of the Week, flying around and causing havoc for most of the game. He finished with 9 tackles, including 1.5 tackles for loss, half a sack and a pass breakup. Freight kicker Calum Sutherland, won Special Teams Player of the Week, finishing 7 of 8 on PATs and scoring 14 total points. Sutherland also converted three deuces, which are scored when a kickoff passes through the uprights.

The Orlando Pirates and the Jacksonville Sharks will kick off Week 6 in a battle to remain undefeated and earn in-state bragging rights. The Quad City Steamwheelers will look to get back in the win column in a matchup against the San Diego Strike Force, who sit atop the Western Conference standings.

The Iowa Barnstormers will take on the Green Bay Blizzard in a rematch from Week 4. The Barnstormers are looking to avenge their 50–39 loss in the first matchup, while the Blizzard are aiming to rebound after their first loss of the season to the Steamwheelers in Week 5.
