EXCLUSIVE: Kaouther Ben Hania’s Tunisian Oscar hopeful The Voice Of Hind Rajab will screen at the United Nations in New York on December 4.
The Gaza drama’s screening is being organized by the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People (CEIRPP) in partnership with the film’s U.S. distributor Willa.
Expected guests include ambassadors, NGOs, activists, policymakers, journalists, and student groups. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion with Ben Hania, actor Amer Hlehel, and Oscar-winning producer James Wilson. Opening remarks will be made by ambassador Coly Seck, chair of the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People.
Based on true events, the Venice Film Festival hit follows Palestine Red Crescent volunteers as they struggle to send an ambulance to rescue a five-year-old girl trapped under fire in Gaza. The film stars Saja Kilani, Motaz Malhees, Amer Hlehel, and Clara Khoury.
Distributor Willa will open the film in theaters on December 17 in New York (Film Forum) and Los Angeles (Laemmle Theatres) with a nationwide theatrical release to follow. Producers are Nadim Cheikhrouha, Odessa Rae and James Wilson, with executive producers including Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, Rooney Mara, Joaquin Phoenix, Alfonso Cuarón, and Jonathan Glazer.
