As Delta Goodrem prepares to hit the stage at the grand final of Eurovision 2026, all of Australia is rallying behind her.
But there’s an extra special person cheering her on from behind the scenes in Vienna: her husband and fellow musician Matthew Copley.
“He’s very excited … I’m very grateful for him to be there with me,” Goodrem told nine.com.au before the couple headed to Austria for the annual song contest.

The singer’s Eurovision journey is the latest major moment in the couple’s love story – one in which music has played a key role.
So, how did the pair meet? Some might call it fate.
The pair have spent years in the music industry. Copley has been a guitarist for Goodrem for years and was a writer on one of her songs.

Some reports say the pair met in 2017, and they are believed to have met through their mutual friend and fellow Aussie musician Conrad Sewell.
But according to Vogue, who the couple spoke to after their June 2025 wedding, they met on tour in 2016.
“Seeing Matt for the first time at the aisle was so memorable, as we had kept the tradition of not seeing each other the night before,” Goodrem said.
“Music is how we met, it’s what we both do,” she previously told Stellar.
The pair are relatively private about their relationship, but went Instagram-official in 2019 with a loved-up snap showing them relaxing together on a lounge chair.
The hitmaker captioned the photo with a simple peace emoji.
“I made a conscious decision when I was 30 that I’m not somebody who wants to talk about relationships,” she told InStyle Australia
However, she did tell Hello! of working with her partner: “When Matt and I work together, it’s really easy to go straight to the core of our feelings because we’re living and breathing life together all the time.
“It’s wonderful to work with him.”
The newlyweds got engaged back in 2023, and married in 2025, choosing a location that’s been significant in their love story.
The couple married in June 2025 in a stunning ceremony in Malta.

The Lost Without You singer confirmed the happy news on Instagram, delighting her followers by sharing her wedding photos.
“June 2025, Husband and Wife,” the former Neighbours star proudly declared.
“It was more magical than we both could have dreamed.”
In July 2023, Goodrem had shared with fans snaps of the couple’s romantic holiday in the European country, writing, “Malta you have my heart. What a place!!!”
“Performing and then getting to spend time with our beautiful family and friends watching sunsets, swimming in the sea and dancing in the streets,” she wrote.
“How lucky are we to do what we get to do 🎵~☀️grateful. La familia!!”
In September that year, the Out of the Blue singer announced their engagement, revealing Copley proposed in Malta.
“My best friend asked me to marry him 💍,” Goodrem wrote, sharing a video of a band playing with flowers and rose petals scattered throughout an intimate sunset setting.
She also showed off her stunning diamond engagement ring that was sparkling in the sunset.
Goodrem told Vogue following their wedding about the significance of Malta and how important it is to their love story.
“Matt set up an incredibly romantic scene in the iconic gardens of The Phoenicia Hotel on the doorstep of Valetta, overlooking the city’s majestic harbour,” she told the publication.

Before Goorem met “The One” in Copley, she had a series of high-profile romances with the likes of tennis star Mark Philippoussis and Westlife singer Brian McFadden, whom she was engaged to.
Goodrem and McFadden announced their split in 2011.
”This decision has been made with a lot of soul searching from both parties with the realisation that they have grown apart,” a joint statement from the pair red at the time.
“They leave the partnership with respect for one and other, wishing each other success and happiness for the future.”
