Daughter of Bruce Willis, Rumer Willis, has spoken out about her dad’s ongoing battle with dementia.
Rumer, who is also an actor like her father, revealed in an interview that the action star has developed a “sweetness” amid his ongoing health struggles.
“I’m so grateful I get to go see him,” Rumer, 37, told The Inside Edit podcast.
“Even though it’s different now, I’m so grateful.
“There’s a sweetness. He’s always been this kind of macho dude and there’s like a, fragile is not the right word but, just a tenderness that maybe being Bruce Willis might not have allowed him in a certain way”.
She also added that she “had no idea” how “prevalent” frontotemporal dementia (FTD) was until her father was diagnosed.
“It’s wild to me,” she said. “So many people come up to me now and they say, ‘My uncle had FTD. My dad had this.'”

She added that she was “so grateful” that her own children have been able to meet her dad, and know their grandad.
“I don’t know if my sisters will have that,” she confessed.
Rumer is the eldest child of Willis and his ex-wife, Demi Moore.
He also shares daughters Scout, 34, and Tallulah, 32, with the actress.
Willis also had children with his current wife, Emma Hemming Willis, including Mabel, 14, and Evelyn, 12.
Moore and Willis divorced in 2000, however, they remain good friends.
The actress even posted a birthday message to Willis in March this year, writing, “All you need is LOVE. Happy birthday, BW! “
Willis was diagnosed with aphasia in 2022, and retired from his acting career. This was followed a frontotemporal dementia diagnosis in 2023.
The actor’s family have rallied around him as he continues to navigate the challenges of the diagnosis.
Heming Willis revealed last year that Willis is residing in a separate home to his wife and their two daughters.
Emma first revealed the decision to the public on ABC’s Diane Sawyer Special in August.
She explained that it “was one of the hardest decisions that [she’s] had to make so far” but that the aim was to create a safer, calmer environment for Willis and it’s worked.
“It’s heartbreaking to me. But this is how we were able to support our whole family, [and] it has opened up Bruce’s world,” Emma told People.
After receiving backlash over the decision, she told Good Morning America’s Michael Strahan it was not up for debate.
“[It] was the safest and best decision – not just for Bruce, but also for our two young girls. And, you know, it’s really not up for a debate,” she said.
