Brooklyn Beckham family feud: Misses grandfather’s 80 birthday celebration but did send a public message

Brooklyn Beckham has missed yet another milestone in his famous family’s lives after he was notably absent from his grandfather’s birthday celebrations.

The family gathered to celebrate the 80th birthday of Victoria Beckham’s father, Anthony Adams, known as Tony, with one of their now signature formal celebrations.

But the US-based eldest child of Victoria and husband David skipped the festivities, as was expected given his feud with his parents and siblings.

The remaining three of the Beckham children attended the soiree, which was held at the swanky Hotel Café Royal in London. Also present was Romeo’s model/DJ girlfriends Kim Turnbull, Cruz Beckham’s partner Jackie Apostel, as well as only daughter Harper.

Victoria marked the celebration with two posts on Instagram which she uploaded overnight (AEST).

“Happy birthday Daddy, we love you so so much! Thank you to all our friends and family who helped to make it so special!” she wrote alongside a carousel of photos of the big night.

She also included a second post with more photos along with the comment, “Such an amazing night celebrating my wonderful dad. Thank you to all our friends and family – we love you so much!! Happy 80th birthday, we love you so so much!”

While Brooklyn didn’t attend, he did take time out of his busy schedule as a hot sauce entrepreneur and supportive husband to his actress/director wife Nicola Peltz to post a tribute to Tony on his Instagram stories.

“Happy 80th birthday Papa. I love you so much,” he wrote along with a photo with Tony in happier times.

It wasn’t his only post that day, with Brooklyn also resharing a photo from Nicola’ Story of a bunch of pink roses – a gift from Brooklyn – and a reposted image from his Cloud 23 hot sauce line.

The latter resulted in a comment from a follower, who wrote, “Your grandfather just turned 80. I sincerely hope you spoke to him, at least privately”.

There had been reports of a feud between Brooklyn and his family for years but they were finally confirmed in January this year when he took to his Instagram Story with a blistering attack.

“I do not want to reconcile with my family. I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life,” he wrote, adding his parents had “controlled narratives in the press about our family” for his entire life.

“The performative social media posts, family events and inauthentic relationships have been a fixture of the life I was born into,” he wrote.

He also accused his parents of “trying endlessly to ruin my relationship since before my wedding, and it hasn’t stopped”, and took particular aim at his mother, claiming she cancelled making Nicola’s wedding dress “in the eleventh hour” and accused her of hijacking his first dance with his wife.

“In front of our 500 wedding guests, Marc Anthony called me to the stage, where in the schedule was planned to be my romantic dance with my wife but instead my mum was waiting to dance with me instead,” he wrote.

“She danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone. I’ve never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life.”

The Beckham birthday celebration came just days after it was revealed David Beckham had become Britain’s first ever billionaire athlete, after he and his wife’s combined wealth reached a staggering $2.2 billion.

The estimate was contained in the latest The Sunday Times’ Rich List.

While Beckham initially made a fortune on the football pitch, he has since built on that wealth with a range of business interests, including a stake in the US-based Inter Miami, now estimated to be worth $1.9 billion.

Victoria also brought millions to their union as a former Spice Girls member and now fashion and beauty entrepreneur.

Tony was mentioned in both the Netflix series’ about David Beckham and Victoria when it was revealed he used to drive her to school in a Rolls-Royce he bought after building a successful electrical wholesaling business in the 1980s.

The footage of David peeking around a corner and urging his wife to “be honest” about her working class background went viral and resulted in a now famous meme.
