Britney Spears has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office has confirmed.
The American popstar, 44, who rose to fame as a teenager and is known for hits including Toxic and …Baby One More Time, was charged with one count of misdemeanor DUI.
Spears, who voluntarily admitted herself to a rehabilitation facility following her DUI arrest, made headlines when she was arrested on suspicion of drink driving, and charged with driving under the influence in California on March 4.

The American musician deleted her official Instagram account at the time, but has since reactivated her account.
“This was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable,” a representative for Spears told CNN at the time.
“Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life. Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time.”

“Her boys are going to be spending time with her. Her loved ones are going to come up with an overdue needed plan to set her up for success for well being.”
It was reported at the time that she would face county court on May 4.

Just last month, it was revealed that the iconic singer had admitted herself to rehab, with a representative confirming the news to US outlets.
