Brendan Fraser Is “Doing My Best” To Get In Shape For ‘The Mummy 4’

As Brendan Fraser prepares to send another mummified baddie to its tomb, he’s getting back in touch with his adventure-prone character Rick O’Connell after 20 years.

Following news that the Oscar winner is reprising his role in the fourth installment of The Mummy franchise, Fraser noted that he’s “doing my best” to get in shape for the Universal sequel.

“Well, we’re gonna get the band back together,” he confirmed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “The only way to do it. So, we are going to give the audience what they have been bothering all of us for, for the last twenty-whatever years.”

Fraser added of the long-anticipated sequel, “I was hopeful for a long while, and then I was like, ‘I don’t know if they are.’ Then other Mummy movies got made. But listen, what we’re gonna do is saddle back up, go back to the locations—I should probably stop talking like this, because I don’t want to give everything away.

“However, please wish me luck. I’m doing my best to get this 57-year-old gear in shape,” he told Fallon.

In February, Deadline reported that Fraser and Rachel Weisz will reprise their roles in a new The Mummy movie for Universal, directed by Radio Silence from a script by David Coggeshall. It’s expected to premiere May 19, 2028.

Fraser starred in The Mummy (1999) and The Mummy Returns (2001) with Weisz. Although he returned for The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (2008), Weisz sat out that sequel with Maria Bello taking over her role as Evelyn Carnahan.
