Aidan Quinn reveals why he isn’t appearing in Practical Magic 2

Practical Magic star Aidan Quinn has shared why he is not going to be making an appearance in the upcoming sequel to the 1998 film.

Quinn, 67, played detective Gary Hallet, who was the love interest of Sandra Bullock‘s character, Sally Owens, and ended up with her at the end of the movie.

While the leads, Bullock and Nicole Kidman, as well as many others, were asked back to appear in the Practical Magic 2, Quinn said the same request wasn’t asked of him.

“No, I wasn’t asked,” he said during an interview with SPIN 1038 in February about the highly anticipated sequel.

The Elementary star added that if he had been asked to reprise his role, “Of course I would.”

Quinn also recalled the “lovely” memories of working with the stars, especially “Sandy”, as he affectionately referred to Bullock.

”They were both great to work with,” he reflected, “You know, most of my stuff was with Sandy but they were both phenomenal to work with… We had a good time.”

Practical Magic 2 picks up 25 years after the events of the first film, with both Bullock and Kidman’s character appearing to be single, according to the recently released trailer.

“Everyone we love dies,” Sally says.

Gillian adds, “A really horrible death. But it’s just not great for the Tinder bio.”

This nugget of information hints that Quinn’s character has possibly been killed off ahead of the sequel.

Also returning to the film are actresses Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest, while Lee Pace and Joey King, playing Sally’s daughter, join the cast.
