Adam Driver has broke his silence on the shocking claims his former Girls co-star Lena Dunham made about him in her new memoir.
Dunham, 40, alleged Driver was “spectacularly rude” to her while filming, among accusations of verbal abuse and throwing a chair on set in her 416-page tell-all.
During a Cannes Film Festival press conference on Sunday, the two-time Oscar nominee was asked how he felt about Dunham’s explosive portrayal.
The 42-year-old sarcastically replied, “I have no comment on that. I’m saving it all for my book.”
The comment is said to have sparked a sea of laughs in the room.
Dunham and Driver played love interests across all six seasons of the HBO drama from 2012 to 2017. Dunham was 25 and Driver was 28 at the time.
In her second memoir Famesick released last month, Dunham alleged Driver screamed at her inside her trailer while on set of the series.

She also claimed he “hurled a chair” at a wall next to her and punched a hole in his own trailer wall among other accusations.
In her book, Dunham said she felt at the time she “lost directorial authority” on the set of Girls.
She felt she didn’t have the “skills” call out the behaviour.
Speaking in an interview with The Guardian last month, she added: ”At the time, I didn’t have the skill to… it never entered my mind to say, ‘I am your boss, you can’t speak to me this way’.
“And, at that point in my 20s, I still thought that’s what great male geniuses do: eviscerate you. Which is weird, because I was raised by a male genius who would never do that.”
Dunham rose to fame as both creator and star of TV drama Girls. While Driver played her character’s on-and-off boyfriend Adam Sackler.
Her second memoir Famesick, follows Dunham’s life from 2010–2020, to which she’s described as “a decade in which my life changed profoundly and permanently, in which nearly every strand of my DNA reconstituted itself.”
The deeply personal reflection tracks her rise to fame, and the cost of fulfilling her dreams including “illness, sex and everything in between”.
Driver is currently in Cannes promoting his new film Paper Tiger. The 2026 crime drama stars Scarlett Johansson and Miles Teller.
