We’re getting a first glimpse of another Big Bang Theory alum in the upcoming spinoff Stuart Fails to Save the Universe.
Wil Wheaton, who recurred as a heightened version of himself in the mothership series, makes a very quick cameo appearance in a new sizzle reel released Sunday by HBO Max. At the 30-second mark, he flashes by, appearing inside Stuart’s comic book store, apparently firing an energy blast at Stuart, Denise, Bert and Kripke. You can watch the clip below.
Wheaton appeared in 17 episodes of The Big Bang Theory in seasons 3 through 12.
The spinoff revolves around comic book store owner Stuart Bloom (Kevin Sussman) who is tasked with restoring reality after he breaks a device built by Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and Leonard (Johnny Galecki), accidentally bringing about a multiverse Armageddon. Stuart is aided in this quest by his girlfriend Denise (Lauren Lapkus), geologist friend Bert (Brian Posehn) and quantum physicist/all-around pain in the ass Barry Kripke (John Ross Bowie). Along the way, they meet alternate-universe versions of characters we’ve come to know and love from The Big Bang Theory. As the title implies, things don’t go well.
Stuart Fails To Save The Universe is written and executive produced by Chuck Lorre, co-creator and executive producer of Big Bang and all of its spinoffs to date, Zak Penn and Big Bang co-creator Bill Prady. Emmy, Grammy winner and Oscar-nominee Danny Elfman composed original them music for the series. The spinoff is produced by Chuck Lorre Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.
Stuart Fails to Save the Universe premieres this July, streaming on HBO Max.
