‘The Hunting Wives’ Star Reveals Season 2 Wrap, Season 3 In Prep

Hunting season is upon us as a new season of Netflix‘s hit sapphic murder mystery is in the can, with another on deck.

The Hunting Wives star Dermot Mulroney, who plays Jed Banks in the Rebecca Cutter-created series, recently revealed that the cast and crew has “completed Season 2” production on the show based on the novel by May Cobb.

“Yes, we have completed Season 2. I’m not certain or not able to tell you yet when that’s coming out,” Mulroney revealed on The Tangle podcast. “And even better news, is that Season 3 is in prep. I think they’ve got writers in the room, and they’re cooking up a third season already. And that should begin filming in the fall. So, that’s great news for all the fans of The Hunting Wives.”

Per Netflix, The Hunting Wives has not officially been renewed for Season 3.

Mulroney described the show as “such an exciting project,” adding, “It took on a life of its own. I guess it’s a year ago, it was picked up by Netflix out of left field and turned into a blockbuster hit. So, to be involved with something that really ripened on the vine is so exciting. And it’s a great character for me. I’m running for governor in, let’s say, an unscrupulous way, so that’s really fun to play.”

While last year’s first season was based on Cobb’s 2021 novel, the actor noted that the sophomore season is “not chained to a novel, and they go off of the chain.”

In The Hunting Wives, Sophie O’Neil (Brittany Snow) moves to a small Texas town for a quieter life with her family, soon falling in with an elite group of local women led by the alluring Margo Banks (Malin Akerman). But the clique is disrupted by a murder investigation when a teen girl is found dead.
