Deadline is bringing its Reality TV Summit to SXSW London with panels, keynotes and masterclasses on June 2.
Syeda Irtizaali, Netflix’s UK unscripted boss, will be the keynote speaker. Irtizaali is one of the UK’s best-known unscripted execs. She was one of the architects behind the landmark BBC-NBC deal that has seen The Traitors become a smash hit on both sides of the pond. She will reveal her priorities and goals as Director, UK Unscripted, at Netflix and give her take on the business.
Alex Horne is joining proceedings to talk about his hit show Taskmaster. Horne will be joined by director Andy Devonshire, series producer Andy Cartwright and executive producer Jon Thoday. Together, they will break down how the team continues to create Taskmaster’s inventive games while balancing comedy and competition.
A session on the future of entertainment programming will feature executives behind shows including SNL UK, The Traitors, Last One Laughing: UK, Destination X and The Apprentice. Speakers include UTAS UK’s Helen Kruger Bratt, Twofour’s David Brindley, Studio Lambert’s Tim Harcourt, Fremantle’s Ben Crompton and Remarkable/Initial/Znak TV’s Natalka Znak.
There will also be a focus on how artificial intelligence is impacting the unscripted biz, with 404 Films talking about its AI-powered talent show, AiMation on making the world’s first AI reality show, Spirit Studios on how AI can power up true crime and docs, and the Twinnin platform discussing how contributors and performers can best be represented.
The event will be held at the Tab Church in Shoreditch on June 2. It is open to all SXSW London delegates.
