Why Jalen Carter won’t be suspended for Week 2 after spitting incident

The Philadelphia Eagles will have defensive tackle Jalen Carter for Sunday afternoon’s road game against the Kansas City Chiefs despite his Week 1 spitting incident.

Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the NFL will fine Carter $57,222 for spitting on Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott but will consider his early game ejection the one-game suspension for the act. That means he’s eligible to play going forward.

JALEN CARTER: Ejection was an accidental act of scouting subterfuge

“After talking to the Eagles, the NFL and the NFLPA, Jalen has decided not to appeal and focus on the Chiefs game,” agent Drew Rosenhaus said on behalf of Carter, per Schefter.

Carter could have suspended an additional game or additional games for the spitting incident, but the ejection happening so early in the Cowboys-Eagles game seems to have covered the one-game suspension requirement.
