According to a Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Enforcement Report, the pharmaceutical company has recalled nearly 90,000 bottles of its Children’s Ibuprofen Oral Suspension because it could potentially have the presence of a foreign substance. The company has been receiving customer complaints about a gel-like mass and black particles in the product.

Earlier this week, the FDA classified the recall as a Class II recall. A Class II recall means use of or exposure to a product may cause temporary or medically reversible health effects, while the risk of more serious harm is considered low.

As reported by USA Today, the affected product is Strides Pharma’s 100 milligram Children’s Ibuprofen Oral Suspension, sold in 4 fluid ounce bottles. The lot numbers are 7261973A and 7261974A, and the medication has an expiration date of Jan. 31, 2027.

Based on Consumer Reports listings and FDA notices, children’s product recalls in 2026 span a wide range of categories, with food recalls leading the list. There have been an estimated 600 or more food recalls so far this year, largely tied to contamination and undeclared allergens.

Toys, baby gear, and nursery items account for a smaller share, with roughly 20 to 30 recalls reported.

Medications and medical products fall in between, with dozens to over a hundred recalls, often linked to manufacturing or safety concerns.

Parents should check their medicine cabinets and avoid using the affected product if they have it.
