Did you hear it? Did you hear the millions of Swifties around the world squealing in unison? That’s because Taylor Swift just announced her 12th studio album!
The epic news was revealed at 12.12am on the 12th – because that’s how Taylor roles – after her website started an hourly countdown to some special news on a glittery orange background, AND her famous man Travis Kelce and his brother Jason Kelce revealed they had a “VERY special” guest coming on their New Heights podcast this week. And yes, the “very” was in all caps. So, of course, the Swiftie-verse has spent the last few hours frothing about a potential new album –
And they were right.
In a teaser from her appearance on New Heights, Taylor revealed the album is called “The Life of a Showgirl”. She held up the cover too, but we didn’t get to see it because the image was purposely blurred.

So far, there’s no release date set and the tracklist hasn’t been revealed either.
The Life of a Showgirl comes after Taylor’s multi-award-winning 2024 release, The Tortured Poets Department, and marks her first album since announcing she now owns all her music again.
“All of the music I’ve ever made now belongs to me,” she posted in a letter to her fans in May this year, nearly 6 years after her old record label sold her music to Scooter Braun’s Ithaca Holdings who then sold it on to Shamrock Capital.
“To say this is my greatest dream come true is actually being pretty reserved about it… I can’t thank you enough for helping to reunite me with this art that I have dedicated my life to, but have never owned until now.”
