Our favourite superhero star Simu Liu is sharing is some sweet personal news – he’s engaged!
The Shang-Chi actor (also a producer, writer, media personality and a whole lot more) revealed on Instagram that he recently proposed to his girlfriend, Interscope Records marketing director Allison Hsu, and she of course said ‘yes’. It all went down in beautiful Paris.
Posting pics of Allison with her sparkling diamond ring, Simu said, “Us forever” and in another caption he wrote:
“From weekends in Paris, day trips to Palm Springs, long nights on set, afternoons vegging on the couch and everything in between, I choose you forever and always.”
Allison replied in the comments, “I love you fiancé!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
Simu also joked, “nine rings left” referencing the title of his Marvel film, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, that catapulted him to stardom.

A bunch of Simu’s famous pals flooded the comments section too. Fellow Marvel star Florence Pugh wrote, “AHHHHH HOW AMAZING! Sending love to you both.”
Mean Girls star Renee Rapp posted, “Allison marrying Shang-Chi alert” before cheekily adding, “that f***ing rock, b****!”
John Legend, Ariana de Bose, Anna Cathcart and Rachel Zegler also sent their congrats.
It’s not clear how long Simu and Allison have been together but they began appearing on each other’s socials and attending red carpet events together in late 2022.
Simu was recently announced as a cast member for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday where he’ll be reprising his role as Shang-Chi. The film is due to be released in 2026.
