RB Nick Chubb is joining an AFC South rival of the Indianapolis Colts.
The Indianapolis Colts will be facing running back Nick Chubb twice this upcoming season, as he is signing a one-year deal to join the Houston Texans.
Chubb was a second-round pick by the Browns in 2018 and had spent his entire career with Cleveland up until this point. A knee injury limited him to two games in 2023 and forced him to miss part of the 2024 season as well. Chubb then ended last season on IR with a foot injury.
From 2019 through 202, Chubb had eclipsed 1,000 rushing yards each of those seasons, which includes rushing for 1,494 yards in 2019 and 1,525 yards in 2022. He was also a fairly active member of the Browns’ passing game.
Chubb joins a Texans’ running back room that already features Joe Mixon.
Opponents often found success running the ball against the Colts‘ defense last season. However, the addition of Lou Anarumo and his more aggressive and malleable defensive scheme can hopefully result in improved play.
We are going to see more blitzing from the Colts under Anarumo, along with more movement up front to put the defensive linemen in advantageous situations.
The Colts also reshaped their defensive tackle depth this offseason by signing Neville Gallimore in free agency, drafting Tim Smith, and bringing back Eric Johnson on waivers.
