Surrounded by family and friends, including The Office co-star B.J. Novak, the uber-talented Mindy Kaling has received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame!
Accepting the honour on Tuesday, February 18, the legendary multi-hyphenate (we’re talking actor, writer, creator, producer and philanthropist) admitted she’s not good at being “in the moment” but she would be feeling all the feels for this special day:
“This is one of the times I’m going to force myself to be in the moment. I’m so happy. I love recognition and this is just incredibly nice.”
Mindy thanked the many people who shaped her life and career, from her friends in high school who encouraged her to achieve her dreams, to her family with whom she loved watching television, and of course, BJ – her longtime friend and collaborator.

“He’s such an integral and important part of my family. Sometimes I forget that the reason that I know him is because we worked together professionally.”
Oh, and she did it all in true Mindy-style – with lots of laughs:
“I’m Hindu. And we practice cremation which is a beautiful tradition that my ancestors have done for thousands of years. And so will I. But also, I’m obsessed with legacy and sometimes I get disappointed that I don’t have a grave. But this? This is so much better than a grave!”
Mindy’s star is the 2,800th on the famous boulevard. She is the first Indian woman and the third person of South Asian descent to receive the honour.
