Matt Reeves’ 6th & Idaho Develops Churchill & Stalin Summit Film

EXCLUSIVE: 6th & Idaho, the production company founded by The Batman director Matt Reeves, is developing a feature film about the 1942 summit between Winston Churchill and Joseph Stalin.

The movie about the Moscow meeting — a pivotal moment that led to the Allied victory three years later — is based on a script by Simon Sebag Montefiore, the historian and screenwriter.

Montefiore, who also wrote the upcoming Young Stalin biopic starring Cosmo Jarvis, has penned two books about Stalin, a book on the Romanov dynasty, as well as three novels spanning 20th-century Russia.

Montefiore said: “This movie is the culmination of a lifelong interest in Stalin and the script tells the inside story of his encounter with Churchill over just a few days, during which time the fate of the entire world hangs by a thread.

“We talk today about strong leaders, who have complete command. In Stalin and Churchill you have two of the very strongest leaders in history, who come together as the world is being torn apart. It is a portrait of two men and a portrait of power.”

Lynn Harris, the former Warner Bros. studio executive who works as Reeves’ producing partner at 6th & Idaho, added: “This is a wonderful story and a wonderful script.”
