Luka Doncic will miss his second straight game on Friday when the Los Angeles Lakers visit the Boston Celtics for the second game of a three-game road trip, as he is dealing with a personal matter. The Lakers will also be without LeBron James, who is listed as out due to sciatica and a left foot ailment.
The team badly needs Doncic back, especially since James has been mostly struggling in his six games back from sciatica so far this season. The good news is that, according to coach JJ Redick, Doncic could return on Sunday when Los Angeles wraps up this road trip with a matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers.
Doncic is playing some pretty unreal basketball so far this season. He’s averaging an NBA-high 35.3 points, plus 8.9 rebounds and 8.9 assists a game, and as a result, L.A. has a 16-5 record and holds second place in the Western Conference.

The team will have two full days of rest after Sunday’s game before it hosts the San Antonio Spurs in the quarterfinal round of the Emirates NBA Cup.
