It’s not over yet people – Prime Video has just announced there’s a The Summer I Turned Pretty movie in the works!
Yes, that’s right. A movie finale after the series finale!
According to the streamer, Belly will end her story with a feature film, written and directed by Jenny Han, and co-written by Sarah Kucserka.
“There is another big milestone left in Belly’s journey, and I thought only a movie could give it its proper due,” Jenny said in a press release. “I’m so grateful to Prime Video for continuing to support my vision for this story and for making it possible to share this final chapter with the fans.”
The plot details are under wraps for now and there’s no talk of a release date just yet.

But it all makes total sense, doesn’t it? The series, based on the book trilogy by Jenny, has been a global phenomenon. Season 3 drew 25 million viewers in its first 7 days! And if you’ve watched the final episode of season 3, you may’ve picked up on the little note from Jenny at the end which suggested we might “meet again” at Cousins Beach.
“The Summer I Turned Pretty has struck a chord with audiences everywhere, creating moments of joy, nostalgia, and connection that have made it a global sensation,” Courtney Valenti, head of film, streaming and theatrical at MGM Studios, and Vernon Sanders, Global Head of Television at Prime Video and Amazon MGM said in a statement.
“We’re proud of the series’ extraordinary success and couldn’t be more excited to partner again with Jenny Han to bring fans an unforgettable next chapter.”
We’re excited tooooo!
And if you happen to be one of the few who hasn’t watched the show yet – here’s what you’re missing:
The Summer I Turned Pretty is a multi-generational drama centred around a love triangle involving one girl (Belly, played by Lola Tung) and two brothers (Conrad, played by Chris Briney, and Jeremiah, played by Gavin Casalegno). By the end of the first season, you’ll be either Team Conrad or Team Jeremiah and by season 2 you’ll be questioning your decisions in season 1. And by season 3, well, another love interest in thrown in the works, and yes, it’s chaotic.
