Golden Globes 2026: Cynthia Erivo won’t be attending the Golden Globes despite her nomination due to Dracula production schedule

There’s going to be a major player missing from the 2026 Golden Globes.

Variety has confirmed Wicked: For Good star Cynthia Erivo won’t be in attendance at the event, despite her nomination for best performance by a female actor in a motion picture, musical or comedy.

The news comes amid rumours Erivo and her Wicked co-star Ariana Grande, who is nominated for best supporting actress, are no longer on speaking terms.

However, her absence has no association with the rumoured feud, with the Tony Award winner instead having to miss the ceremony due to her production schedule.

Erivo is set to star in the upcoming production of Dracula on London’s West End, a one-woman show in which she tackles a whopping 23 characters.

The stage adaptation of the gothic horror story goes into previews on February 4, meaning Erivo is currently deep in production, with Variety reporting “producers are unable to free her to attend the ceremony in Los Angeles”.

Many online have been speculating about Erivo and Grande’s attendance during awards season, with several blind items claiming the pair have had a dramatic falling out in recent months.

During press for the film, the pair appeared to share an incredibly close bond, so the rumours have come as a shock to fans.

With neither party confirming any drama, there’s a high chance it’s nothing but gossip.

With Dracula set to run on West End from February 4 to May 30, it’s highly unlikely Erivo will be present at any ceremonies during this awards season.

“I’m f—ing petrified. I really am. I’m very scared,” she told Wonderland magazine of taking on the pressure of a one-woman show.

”But I’m also like – I don’t know, is this sadistic of me – but I’m really excited about it as well.

“It’s absolutely nonsensical and insane, and I kept trying to resist it for the longest time.”
