EXCLUSIVE: Iain Glen is swapping the warlords of Westeros for the Vikings in his latest project.
The Game of Thrones actor will narrate the ten-part podcast series Real Vikings, which comes from audio network Noiser. The series premieres on March 10 and will explore the truth behind Viking culture.
Glen, who came up as a theater actor, is known for his role as the warrior knight Ser Jorah Mormont in HBO’s Game of Thrones and parts in the Resident Evil film trilogy, Prime Video’s The Rig and Apple TV’s Silo.
Real Vikings will hear him focus on myth busting and fresh historical insight, while providing an introduction to the culture for those who are unfamiliar.
The series will sit alongside Noiser’s slate of factual-themed podcasts under the Real… brand, namely Real Dictators and Real Survival Stories.
Episodes will explore a world of daring raids, epic battles and empire-building, following legendary figures such as Ragnar Lothbrok, Canute and Harald Hardrada. Stories such as a Viking-era murder mystery on Dorset’s Chesil Beach in the UK will be included, along with the founding of Iceland’s Althing parliament to Viking graffiti in Istanbul’s Hagia Sophia.
Real Vikings will roll out on all podcast platforms, with Noiser+ subscribers getting an ad-free version and early access to new episodes.
Noiser has primarily focused on factual-themed podcasts, but has more recently expanded into major adaptations of classic literature, including Pride and Prejudice narrated by Dame Julie Andrews, Charles Dickens’ Ghost Stories told by Sir David Suchet and a Sherlock Holmes Short Stories series narrated by Hugh Bonneville.
