BTS will stage their long awaited full group comeback with a free public concert at Seoul’s Gwanghwamun Square on March 21, marking their first collective stage performance in more than three years. Seoul city officials have granted conditional approval for the event, clearing the way for what is expected to be one of the most closely watched music moments of 2026.
The comeback show will coincide with the release of BTS’s fifth studio album, Arirang, which arrives on March 20. According to city authorities, the performance will take place under the theme of a “K heritage and K pop convergence” event, blending contemporary music with historic landmarks. Alongside Gwanghwamun Square, filming and production will extend to nearby cultural sites including Gyeongbokgung Palace, Gwanghwamun Gate and Sungnyemun, as HYBE confirmed, following conditional clearance from the National Heritage Administration.
Officials approved the event pending a final safety management plan, with particular focus on crowd control, traffic disruption and staggered exit times for performers and attendees. Organizers plan to admit approximately 18,000 fans through advance registration. The show will also stream live worldwide, giving global audiences access to BTS’s first live performances from the new album.
The Gwanghwamun appearance holds symbolic weight. It represents BTS’s official return as a complete group following military service and places that return in one of South Korea’s most culturally significant public spaces. The choice of location reflects the album’s title and concept, which draws from Korean musical heritage while positioning BTS firmly within a global pop framework.
Following the Seoul comeback show, BTS will launch a new world tour beginning April 9 at Goyang Sports Complex, extending their return from a national moment into an international chapter.
