Dearest gentle reader, there is news from the Ton and it’s about who will be leading Bridgerton season 5!
Netflix (not Lady Whistledown) has confirmed the next season will follow the story of Lady Francesca Stirling and Michaela Stirling, cousin of Lord John Stirling.
Avoiding spoilers for those who haven’t seen season 4 yet… all we can tell you is what actor Hannah Dodd (Francesca) says:
“As John’s cousin, Michaela is the only other person who fully understands what Francesca might feel like. That just connects them on another level.” (Via Tudum)

Whilst the series has shown queer love in the past (looking at you Benedict Bridgerton), this is the first time the central love story is a queer one.
This is also a departure from the Bridgerton book series by Julia Quinn where Lord John Stirling’s cousin is a man by the name of Michael Stirling, not a woman named Michaela.
Filming has begun just outside of London. No word on a release date just yet, but stay tuned!
