Josh Groban Goes to the Movies on Lush New Album ‘CINEMATIC’

Josh Groban is heading back to the big screen – or at least the sound of it. The five-time GRAMMY Award-nominated vocalist has announced ‘CINEMATIC’, a sweeping new studio album devoted to songs that first found life in film.

Long known for his rich baritone and orchestral sensibility, Groban has flirted with movie music throughout his career. But ‘CINEMATIC’ marks his first full-length project built entirely around the emotional pull of the silver screen.

Set for release on Friday, May 8th 2026 via Reprise Records, the 10-track collection will feature reimagined versions of beloved film standards, including Elton John’s ‘Can You Feel the Love Tonight’ from The Lion King, alongside other iconic soundtrack staples and guest vocals from the likes of Jennifer Hudson, the Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles, and the singers very own Father Jack Groban.

Produced by Greg Wells (Wicked, The Greatest Showman, Dua Lipa, Adele, Taylor Swift), and recorded both in Los Angeles and London, the LP serves as Groban’s first major album release since 2020’s ‘Harmony’, a fan-favorite that balanced covers with original material and showcased a more introspective side of the singer.

“There’s something incredibly powerful about the way a song or score can elevate a story and stay with you long after the credits roll,” Josh explains. “With ‘CINEMATIC’, I wanted to honour that feeling – the nostalgia, the drama, the romance – while bringing my own voice and perspective to these timeless songs. Recording this album felt like stepping into some of the most iconic moments in film history, and I hope listeners are transported the same way I have always been when the lights go down and the music begins.”

Just last month, Josh kicked off his GEMS World Tour with a sold-out performance in Honolulu, HI at the Neal S. Blaisdell Center Arena, before bringing the tour across Asia and Oceania with stops in Taipei, Singapore, Jakarta, Manila, Japan, New Zealand, and Australia.

With momentum building worldwide, Groban is set to continue the tour later this month with performances in Dublin, London, Paris, Berlin, Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, and Amsterdam. In June, the tour continues through North America with special guest Jennifer Hudson, including stops at TD Garden in Boston on June 6th, Madison Square Garden in New York City on June 12th, and Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on June 16th. Additionally, Groban will return to The Colosseum at Caesars Palace this fall for GEMS The Las Vegas Residency
