They did it again!
According to 9NEWS Denver’s Mike Klis, the Denver Broncos are re-signing tight end Lucas Krull to a one-year deal. He entered the offseason as a restricted free agent, but the Broncos did not tender him, and he became a free agent at the start of the new league year. Now, he returns to the Broncos.
As of this moment, the Broncos have the same exact tight end room that they had last season. Evan Engram is your ‘Joker’, Adam Trautman is your starter, Nate Adkins is your blocking specialist, Krull adds depth as a pass catcher, and Lohner is the developmental prospect.

I had hoped the Broncos would revamp and improve their tight end room this offseason, but they decided to run it back despite their struggles last season. Now, they can still make some changes, and they have the draft, but as of now, this is the same room they had last season.
Krull is a big, athletic tight end who provides depth as a pass catcher; however, he has not produced much since joining the team in 2023. Through three seasons with the Broncos, he has 29 catches for 262 yards and 1 touchdown. This past year, he played in just 3 games and had 2 receptions for 15 yards.
This, unfortunately, likely takes the Broncos out of the veteran tight end market, but they still could address the position via the draft. I would imagine we see them draft a tight end with one of their picks in the first four rounds of the draft. Oregon’s Kenyon Sadiq will likely be off the board by the time the Broncos pick in the first round but could Payton be interested in Vanderbilt’s Eli Stowers or look for a more traditional in-line tight end?
