That apart, recently, the company secured a contract worth more than $350 million from Nigeria’s Dangote Group to act as Project Management Consultant (PMC) and EPCM consultant for a major expansion of Africa’s biggest refinery.

In a stock exchange filing, EIL said Dangote plans to expand its Lekki Free Zone integrated refinery and petrochemical complex’s refining capacity from 650,000 barrels per day to 1.4 million barrels per day (Train 2), with the expanded facility slated to produce Euro VI-grade fuels. Alongside the refining expansion, Dangote also plans to scale up polypropylene capacity from 830 kTPA to 2.4 MMTPA by revamping the existing polypropylene unit and installing an additional 1.2 MMTPA unit, along with a 750 kTPA UOP Oleflex unit to supplement propylene feed.

Engineers India noted it previously partnered with Dangote as PMC and EPCM consultant for the 650,000 bpd refinery and petrochemical complex, which was commissioned in 2024. The company said the new mandate underscores Dangote’s confidence in EIL’s engineering and project management capabilities and positions the expanded complex among the largest refinery projects at a single location globally.
