Kristin Davis and Mario Cantone are sharing their thoughts on the series finale of And Just Like That… and are echoing some of the sentiments viewers have also expressed.
During the most recent episode of Davis’s Are You a Charlotte? podcast alongside Cantone, the duo discussed that the ending of the Sex and the City spinoff didn’t feel like it was an actual ending.
“I just wanted one more season,” Cantone said with Davis adding, “I agree, I absolutely wanted one more season too.”
Cantone, who played the role of Anthony Marentino, said, “I don’t care what anybody says. That was not a series finale. It was a season finale, but that wasn’t a series finale.”
Davis agreed with her co-star, noting that she hadn’t watched the last episode of the HBO Max series as she was still “in denial,” saying, “I would like to remain that way.”
Additionally, Davis said, “I know what was on the page, and I know that when the girls and I got together for dinner and we were like, ‘Wait, what did we do and what did we do [in the series finale]?’ And we couldn’t really remember, which is not a good sign.”
“This is not based on anything real,” she continued. “In my mind, we’re going to do something else. I don’t think it’ll be a whole season, but I think we will do something else.”
In an interview following the series finale of And Just Like That…, star Sarah Jessica Parker hinted that her character Carrie Bradshaw could possibly return.
“I think it’s out of respect for this really singular professional experience that you have to consider what you want to do, have you done it,” she said on CBS Mornings. “And sometimes it’s best to gracefully walk away when things feel really right and energetic, versus squeezing and exploiting people’s generosity and hospitality.”
Parker added, “I’m not certain I understand that decision means, because I could just be on hiatus.”
