Pedro Santo continues to showcase his range as a solo artist on ‘I Don’t Know Me’, a stripped-back and introspective release that sees him further solidify his artistic identity. Co-written by the singer, along with Jack Dean Britten, Rene Miller and Mike Needle, the timely track marks another step in Santo’s evolving solo chapter, placing emotional honesty at the forefront as he continues to carve out a path on his own terms.
Centred on themes of identity, belonging and resilience, ‘I Don’t Know Me’ unfolds with a clear sense of intent. Its rich, full-bodied and anthemic production gives Santo’s powerful vocal room to soar, carrying the emotional weight of the song’s introspective core with ease. Rather than pushing towards catharsis, the track sits in ambiguity, capturing the unwavering devotion people often invest in the things they love.
Commenting on the single, Pedro says: “‘I Don’t Know Me’ is probably the most vulnerable I’ve been yet. I wrote the song about my relationship with music but social media has given it its own life and people are relating to it in so many different ways. From it being about loved ones, pets and family members to even applying to their own religion. I can’t express how happy I am that this is happening – it’s all I’ve ever wanted my music to be to others. I always find that when I’m in a session writing about a specific scenario, the song always takes off in other directions and begins to make sense to others in a very different light to what I had intended.”
After a year of high-profile support slots – most notably opening for Cian Ducrot and Only The Poets – Pedro is set to embark on his first-ever headline tour this February, visiting cities across the UK and Europe.
The 11-date run includes a London date at The Garage on February 10th, while shows in Amsterdam and Cologne have already sold out. A handful of tickets for the remaining dates are still available here.
The Portuguese-born, UK-based singer-songwriter has quickly cemented his reputation as one of the industry’s most exciting emerging artists. ‘I Don’t Know Me’ follows a string of standout tracks, including ‘The Way You Do’, ‘Someone I Don’t Know’ and ‘Lady In Red’, the latter of which has already surpassed 3.2 million streams on Spotify alone.
