Inter Milan president Beppe Marotta reportedly paid a visit to the team and Cristian Chivu at Appiano Gentile on Sunday.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews, the Nerazzurri chief visited the players to encourage them after Friday’s heartbreak.

Bologna stunned Inter in their Supercoppa Italiana semi-final tie in Riyadh, securing a place in the final after a dramatic penalty shootout.

Despite taking an early lead through Marcus Thuram, Chivu’s side slumped to a disappointing defeat.

However, Marotta has not lost confidence in the 45-year-old.

On the contrary, Chivu appears to have convinced the Nerazzurri hierarchy that he can help restore the glory days at San Siro.

Yet, there’s a glaring issue the former defender must address to improve Inter’s chances of fighting for trophies.

Indeed, Inter lost yet another high-profile fixture without standout right-back Denzel Dumfries.
