Our favourite 90s rom-com heroine has been immortalised! Yes, there’s now a statue of Bridget Jones in Leicester Square in London, and we love her, just as she is.
Star of the film franchise, Renée Zellweger, and author of the original books, Helen Fielding, attended the unveiling, along with cast members from past and present Bridget Jones films including Leo Woodall and Sally Philips.
The life-sized bronze statue depicts a smiling Bridget, wearing a mini skirt and holding her diary and pen. She’s standing amongst a pink and white floral wall. No sign of cigarettes or alcohol, or those infamous granny knickers, which is probably a good thing! And no sign of Daniel Cleaver either…

“It seems really cute. I mean, it’s really so weird, but it’s really cute,” Renée said after seeing, well… herself, in sculpture form (per The Guardian).
The statue joins the likes of Paddington Bear, Mary Poppins and Harry Potter as part of Westminster Council’s ‘Scenes in the Square’ campaign – a trail of film sculptures in what is now the area’s thriving entertainment hub. Bridget is the first rom-com character the council has honoured with a statue!
