The BET Awards 2026 are in full swing, taking place on Sunday evening at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
Among early winners at the ceremony include Kehlani and Leon Thomas, who took home best female and male R&B/pop artist, respectively. Janet Jackson was on hand to present Teyana Taylor with the Icon of the Year Award, recognizing her achievements as a director, actor, choreographer and singer. Jackson also announced that Taylor had won the awards for video director of the year, the Fashion Vanguard award and best actress.
Performances thus far have come from T.I., who opened the show with “Top Back” and “Let ‘Em Know,” followed by Kehlani with “Folded” (featuring an assist from Jamie Foxx), Don Toliver with “E85” and “Body,” and Raye with an impassioned rendition of her song “Nightingale Lane.”
Cardi B scored the most nominations for the BET Awards 2026 in six categories, followed by Kendrick Lamar and Mariah the Scientist with five apiece. Artist with four nominations included Doja Cat, Latto, Olivia Dean, Teyana Taylor, Doechii and Clipse. A$AP Rocky, Bruno Mars, Bryson Tiller, Chris Brown, Jill Scott, Kehlani, Metro Boomin, SZA, Tasha Cobbs Leonard, Tems, T.I. and YK Niece received three nominations each.
