The series finale of Stranger Things left many questions about what really happened to Millie Bobby Brown‘s Eleven, and the actress actually knows what happened in the end.
Despite knowing Eleven’s fate in the Netflix series, Brown has a pact with the show’s creator, the Duffer Brothers, and is sworn to secrecy.
“They were like, ‘Do not tell anyone. Because we made it a secret kind of pledge,’” Brown said on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. “No one else knows. It’s just us three. And what we do with that information, it’ll be up to them.”
Podcast host Josh Horowitz asked the audience what they thought happened to Eleven, and a majority said that Brown’s character had survived with the Stranger Things star adding, “We have a hopeful audience. I love that!”
Following up on if Eleven died or is alive, Brown added, “All people say now is, ‘Do you believe?’ And of course I believe. I have to believe, honestly — otherwise January will come around again.”
Ending the series left Brown with a “slight, slight depression,” but she had her co-stars to reach out to and share their experiences.
After the Stranger Things finale, Brown has continued to work with Netflix, starring in the third installment of Enola Holmes, premiering July 1st on the streamer. Brown also has a number of films in development, including Just Picture It and Nineteen Steps, an adaptation of her debut novel.
Recently, Deadline reported that Brown was exiting the Netflix sports drama Perfect, in which she was set to play Olympic gymnast Kerry Strug.
