After lots of rumours and months of talk about a sequel to Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion, we finally have some solid info – and it’s good!
20th Century Studios has announced a Romy and Michele 2 is officially happening with original stars Lisa Kudrow and Mira Sorvino reprising their iconic roles.
The studio shared a photo of the two women, in costume, sitting on chairs on set and yes, they’ve already started filming!
“The reunion you’ve been waiting for,” they captioned the pic. “The Romy and Michele sequel is now in production.”
Mira responded to the big news in the comments, writing: “It’s finally happening. Bursting with joy to be reunited!”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Janeane Garofalo will return as Heather, Alan Cumming as Sandy Frink, Camryn Manheim as Toby and Julia Campbell as Christie. Plus we’ll be getting some new cast members too including Keegan-Michael Key and Breckin Meyer.
Unlike the original film, this one will not be released in theatres. It will go straight to streaming on Hulu and Disney+.
No word on a release date but stay tuned…
