Katie Holmes loved reuniting with Joshua Jackson on Happy Hours.
Katie Holmes has reunited with her former co-star
The 47-year-old star directs Joshua in Happy Hours, a new romantic drama film that premieres at the Tribeca Festival, and Katie admits that she relished the experience of working with her former Dawson’s Creek co-star on the project.
The brunette beauty – who played Joey Potter in Dawson’s Creek between 1998 and 2003 – told Variety: “We hadn’t worked together in 25 years, and we’ve changed a lot.
“We also wanted to give ourselves the space to show different sides of ourselves and to not portray these people we’re known for.”
Katie and Joshua, 47, quickly fell back into their old routines, despite having not worked together in decades.
She said: “It’s like a shorthand that we quickly realise still exists.
“We’ve always done well working off one another. He directs me and I direct him without us even mentioning it.”
Dawson’s Creek fans were thrilled to see Katie and Joshua working together once again, and the actress has admitted to being amazed by the TV show’s enduring impact.
She said: “To be honest, it was unexpected. I know we were on a show that a lot of people watched, but I guess we never fully realised the impact. It still kind of throws all of us.”
Katie admits that fan interest became quite tricky to contend with during the shoot.
She said: “We didn’t want anyone to record us. Sometimes it worked; obviously sometimes it didn’t. It was nothing we couldn’t handle.”
Katie previously revealed that she shares a “bond” with her Dawson’s Creek co-stars.
The actress is still in contact with some of her co-stars – but she wasn’t aware that they have a WhatsApp group.
Katie – who starred on the TV show alongside Joshua, Michelle Williams and the late James Van Der Beek – told The Sunday Times newspaper: “All of us text every now and then, but I wasn’t aware of the WhatsApp.
“But you know what? I’m really bad at WhatsApp. I never check it because it’s a little too much. I mean, every now and then. Everyone’s grown up and is busy, but the bond will for ever be there.”
