It’s early June, which means it’s video game event season once again. Now that E3 has been gone for a few years, a bunch of showcases and presentations have started to fill the void, including big productions like Summer Game Fest Live and smaller affairs like Wholesome Games Direct.
If you love following gaming news, it’s a good time of year. There will be a lot to take in that will set the stage for the rest of the year’s gaming releases. But without a big centralized conference like E3, it can be difficult to keep track of the many different events that will be happening over the next several days.
We’ve put together a list of the biggest events that we’ll have an eye on and when you can watch them. We’ll be covering announcements from all of the summer gaming event season, so keep an eye on The Verge and our dedicated hub for the major news. And there are a lot more events here that we didn’t include; for an even more comprehensive list, check out the events page on the Summer Game Fest website.
PlayStation State of Play, 5PM ET
Sony’s next State of Play virtual showcase kicks off on June 2nd at 5PM ET, and it could be a big one. The company is promising that the show will have “more than 60 minutes of updates, announcements, and gameplay reveals from top studios around the world.” Sony also says that the show will start with a “closer look” at Marvel’s Wolverine, the next big title from Insomniac Games, which is set to launch on September 15th.
Summer Game Fest Live, 5PM ET
The Geoff Keighley-hosted summer show returns on June 5th at 5PM ET. Keighley hasn’t teased what games might be featured just yet — he often does that on X in the run-up to the event. But last year’s show featured reveals for big games like Resident Evil Requiem and smaller ones like Mixtape, so it’s likely we’ll similarly see a wide range of major franchise announcements alongside great-looking indie titles.

Day of the Devs: Summer Game Fest Digital Showcase, 7PM ET
Right after Summer Game Fest Live, catch the indie-focused Day of the Devs: Summer Game Fest Digital Showcase, which is set to start on June 5th at 7PM ET. On Bluesky, Day of the Devs said that the show will include 20 games and 10 premieres.
Sponsors for the event include Annapurna Interactive, Devolver Digital, Panic, PlayStation, Xbox, and even Studio MDHR (the team behind Cuphead) — if those publishers are announcing games at the show, that could mean there’s are some cool news in store.

Wholesome Direct, 12PM ET
The Wholesome Direct is a showcase dedicated to “uplifting and cozy games,” with sponsors like Annapurna Interactive, Devolver Digital, Netflix, and Playstack. You can catch it on YouTube.
Future Games Show Summer Showcase, 3PM ET
This two-hour show will feature new premieres, “exclusive” trailers, and an “extended gameplay reveal” of Exodus, a sci-fi RPG developed by Archetype Entertainment, a studio founded by former BioWare developers, and published by Wizards of the Coast. Watch the show on YouTube.
Xbox Games Showcase + Gears of War: E-Day Direct, 1PM ET
This year’s major Xbox showcase, the first with new Xbox boss Asha Sharma at the helm, takes place on June 7th at 1PM ET. It could be a significant show; in addition to being the first big stage for Sharma since she took over, Microsoft will likely share updates on games like Halo: Campaign Evolved and Minecraft Dungeons II. The company has also already said that it will show more of Fable, which it just delayed (again) to February 2027. And after the showcase is over, Microsoft will also host a dedicated event all about Gears of War: E-Day, which is the first new mainline entry since 2019’s Gears 5.
PC Gamer’s PC Gaming Show will include “a packed run of reveals, demos, and fresh looks at upcoming games set to dominate gaming news over the next few months.” Catch it on YouTube.
